Sleek, smooth, and subtly funky, Detalles is the micro-house duo of Santiago's Andres Bucci and Chicago's Kate Simko. The pair first met in 2001 when Simko, a classically trained pianist, was studying music composition in Santiago. Though they come from divergent backgrounds, Bucci and Simko share a mutual passion for explorative electronics.Bucci first began producing music in the late 90's as a member of Plan V, a pioneering South American IDM act. Since then, he has veered closer to house music under his own name and aliases such as Chord and Jog, as well as part of the duo Bucci, a fraternal production team with his brother Pier Bucci. Simko's interests in electronic music first took hold in the mid-90's with the rise of the American Midwest rave circuit. By the latter years of the decade she was fusing her pianist's ambitions with classical synthesizers like the Moog, the Arp 2600, and new programming software, while collaborating with the likes of Philip Glass and Thomas Brinkmann. Their first release as Detalles, the Shapes of Summer album, was released in 2003. A follow-up album, Micros Morning, came out earlier this year.
