NANO MUTEK.AR 2019

NANO MUTEK AR 2019

The international festival of digital creativity MUTEK Argentina begins its 2019 activities with the celebration of the first NANO MUTEK in Buenos Aires. With a more intimate and experimental format, it will be focused in developing topics of diversity and gender equality through the Amplify platform, in collaboration with British Council and Somerset House Studios.

In the course of two days, that will include a symposium, a workshop and a live performances program, it will be a meeting point for local and international names from the creative industries, professionals, innovators and audiovisual artists.

Amplify is the initiative that connects an active network of women-identified artists and curators working in the digital arts and immersive storytelling sectors in Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and the UK. Connecting different cultures and experiences, Amplify activates a platform for dialogues on access, inclusion and gender equality between local and international industry professionals.

Amplify took place for the first time during MUTEK Montréal 2018, but many of the participants involved in this project have embarked on a transcontinental circulation throughout 2018-2019, with the first stops in Buenos Aires and Mexico City and finally reconnecting in the UK at Somer set House Studios in London, during the upcoming month of june.

Amplify is led by the British Council, MUTEK Festival and Somerset House Studios. In Argentina, it is also supported by SKYY Vodka Argentina as part of their CONECTASKYY program.

Diversity in curation: re-engendering the creative industries

There is an increasing amount of initiatives that are encouraging gender equality and female empowerment. How do governments and institutions support cultural changes? Which are the international organizations that are making efforts towards a change in social regulations?
In the context of the first NANO MUTEK in Buenos Aires, and prior to the 3rd edition of the festival in September, MUTEK.AR reaffirms its commitment with inclusion and gender equality gathering professionals and representatives of local and international organizations in a panel that will go over examples of different sectors and countries in which actions related with equality and diversity are working on creating and generating changes.
