MUTEK is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination and development of digital creativity in sound, music, and audiovisual art. Its mandate is to provide a platform for the most original and visionary artists currently working in their fields, with the intent of providing an outlet of initiation and discovery for the audiences we seek to develop.
Since its first edition in 2000, the MUTEK festival has distinguished itself as an international rendezvous for original and avant-garde programming. In terms of content, the festival’s range strives to be diverse, with interests in both the experimental and the playful sides of digital creativity. This is a world of constant evolution and incessant refinement – the “MU” in MUTEK refers consciously to the notion of “mutation”.
A MUTEK network exists today, with ramifications in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia which provides an essential platform to promote and explore wide-ranging artistic content, all the while reflecting a cultural effervescence that is both real and global,
MUTEK in Argentina
MUTEK revived it's bond with Buenos Aires after a years-long hiatus. Latin America had participated in the Festival adventures since 2022, with the first Argentinian events taking place in 2005 during a tour that also visited Chile, Colombia and Brasil. MUTEK Argentina established its supporting point producing one and few-day events until 2010, creating an important connection node between south american, eruopean and international artists.
Revitalized and re-established, MUTEK Argentina came back in 2017 for this "new era" first edition, and has installed itself in the annual Buenos Aires agenda as a space for diversity and convergence in terms of art, technology, culture, accesibility and gender.
After three editions in Buenos Aires and a Hybrid Edition alongside MUTEK Barcelona, the festival has already reached it's main goal: being a platform that brings the. audience the artistic innovations, working as a space for meeting, exchange and information flow for artists and the local and international community as well.
"MUTEK's program pretends to create a sonic space that can support innovation in the new electronic music an digital art". Alain Mongeau, Founder & Director MUTEK
