BaremAR
Mauricio Barembuem, better known as Barem, has spent over two decades shaping dancefloors with a sound built on groove, subtlety and unmistakable musicality. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he emerged in the mid-2000s as one of the most distinctive voices in the new wave of minimal electronic music, quickly earning international recognition for productions that balanced powerful basslines with hypnotic rhythms and an organic sense of space.
His breakthrough caught the attention of Richie Hawtin, leading to a decade as one of the core artists on the iconic Minus roster. During those years, Barem released a series of acclaimed records, including his debut album After The Storm, while developing a reputation as an exceptional live performer and DJ. His unique approach to storytelling through music took him to every corner of the globe, performing extensively across Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Oceania, appearing at many of the world's most respected clubs and festivals, including Movement Detroit, MUTEK Montreal, Time Warp, Amsterdam Dance Event, ENTER., Cocoon and countless other renowned venues and events.
In 2015, after ten defining years with Minus, Barem embarked on a more independent path, releasing music on labels including Sci+Tec and Rhythm Cult before co-founding Fun Records with longtime friend and collaborator Alexis Cabrera. Together, they have developed the label into a respected platform for forward-thinking underground music, reflecting their shared passion for timeless grooves, refined production and artistic freedom.
While never one to chase trends or constant visibility, Barem has remained deeply connected to the underground through DJing, production and carefully selected releases. In 2026, he contributed "E.Therian" to the inaugural release of Artlab Records, continuing his longstanding relationship with Argentina's vibrant electronic music community.
Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Barem's philosophy has remained unchanged: music is an honest reflection of the person creating it. That authenticity—combined with an instinctive understanding of the dancefloor—continues to define every performance and every record, making Barem one of Argentina's most respected ambassadors of underground electronic music.
