La Joya (the Jewel) is a light installation off the Autopartes series, a material investigation on sculpting. In the vast universe of autoparts, the headlights hold a predilect space, their nomenclature and antropomorphic design transforming them into a relational bridge between human and mechanical forms; in aesthetic terms they give "character and personality" to the inanimate object.
The work exploits this relational strategy, used by the automotive industry to soften these elements' integration into urban life, to transform them into a new relational languag between individual and object.
The project deliberates on the construction of new ways to explore our daily life through resignifying resonant objects from it, like the car headlights that contribute illumination and dynamism to our cities at night.
