Heidi Giel & Manu SchallerAR
Heidi Giel and Manuel Schaller form a duo featuring piano, Rhodes, processed accordion, theremin, and synthesizers. Their music explores sonic landscapes—and their unraveling—moving between the dreamlike and the artificial while at times dissolving the boundaries between instruments.
The uniqueness of their work lies in the seamless fusion of analog and digital instruments and sound worlds. A theremin can suddenly transform into a drum machine or trigger samples drawn from the everyday output of social media. An accordion shifts between the liturgical resonance of a harmonium and the chaos produced by machine processing. A piano moves from the warmth of human touch to irregular arpeggios and rhythms that seem to emerge from a synthesizer.
