Studio Everywhen (Brad Necyk x Jonathan Kawchuk)^CA

Studio Everywhen is a digital art collective founded by Brad Necyk and Jonathan Kawchuk, two Canadian artists joining forces in storytelling through 3D animation and video art. Their focus centers on our relationship with the Earth that shelters and connects its people. The duo creates eco-conscious meditations through their cinematic approach.

Vancouver-based artist Brad Necyk fuses film, dance and video installations in his art practice, which focuses on mental health, consciousness and empathy. He holds a PhD in Psychiatry, an MFA in Intermedia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alberta. He has exhibited artworks across Canada and internationally, and has received numerous grants and awards. Currently, he is a research associate in Film & Digital Media at the University of California Santa Cruz.

Jonathan Kawchuk is an award-winning composer from Canada. He has scored many films, including Memento Mori ​(National Film Board of Canada), for which he was nominated for a 2017 Alberta Film and Television Award in the category of Best Original Musical Score, a video feature for ​Vogue Italia and ​Dior​, and ​Fast Horse ​(CBC), which won the Special Jury Award for Directing at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Kawchuk has experience writing internationally for multiple short films, theatre projects, and sound installations. As a technician, he worked on albums for Nico Muhly and Ben Frost, and as an assistant sound technician for the Philip Glass Ensemble on ​Music in 12 Parts​, in London. He is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre’s Slaight Family Music Residency, the Banff Centre for the Arts Musicians in Residence program, the Berlinale Talents Lab, and is a voting member of the Recording Academy. Kawchuk is signed to Paper Bag Records as a recording artist. For his debut album, he lived and recorded in natural environments across Europe, North America, and Asia. Kawchuk studied at multiple institutions and completed his Bachelor of Music, Honours, First Class, at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

ALL SKY, MIRROR OCEAN is a film meditation expressed through landscapes of ocean and rainforests, taking place under the Pacific sunset. Tectonic plates converge, creating a tsunami that releases an awakening in the viewer. Ancient trees that seem everlasting become fragile glass sculptures, at risk of shattering and in need of defending.
