The festival's signature series will take place in Martín Coronado hall
On Wednesday, October 1st, MUTEK Argentina kicks off its 2025 edition with an event at the iconic Teatro San Martín. The A/Visions program, with its firm focus on experimental projects, incorporates Canadian composer and conceptual artist Alexis Langevin-Tétrault and multimedia duo CLAUSTRO.
Following last year's presentation at the Teatro Alvear, MUTEK Argentina doubles down on its insistence on showcasing cutting edge works at Argentina's most storied venues, integrating them into Buenos Aires' cultural circuit. Martín Coronado hall, the largest of the theater's three auditoriums, will offer captivating immersion thanks to its modernized sound and lighting systems and its moving stage.
The A/Visions program is a point of convergence between technology, performance and visual poetry, an open invitation to explore uncharted territory in contemporary creativity. The event gathers two immersive works that channel something beyond the visible and the ordinary through their cutting edge technology.
A technological ritual for grief and resistance
This edition of A/Visions opens with REPLIKAS, a contemporary high-tech ritual; Alexis Langevin-Tétrault builds a metallic totem live on stage, conducting sound and light with visceral precision. Each chunk of the final work generates sound and light which are then amplified, refracted and transformed; it's a ritual for grief and resistance where technology channels spiritual and invisible forces.
Native to Montréal, Alexis Langevin-Tétrault is an interdisciplinary artist that explores corporality through the creation of audiovisual devices, performance, scenographic and dramaturgic work, sound synthesis and both conceptual and social reflection. He presented Hypercube (one) at MUTEK Montréal 2020, and returned to the festival this year to debut REPLIKAS. Only a few weeks after its presentation in Canada he brings the work to Buenos Aires: it's a can't-miss Latin American debut.

"Working without image or video, reducing everything to light and sound"
The event continues with CLAUSTRO, who present Territorios Ilusorios I, an audiovisual and scenographic piece that navigates through a series of ephemeral atmospheres. Through a combination of laser, sound and mirrors, the duo creates sculptures and landscapes out of light which slowly reveal their volumes and figures, luminous scenes that oscillate between tension and contemplation.
This particular work of theirs stresses its minimalism; instead of a more traditional show with image and video as backing, CLAUSTRO generates Territorios Ilusorios I entirely with light and sound, enhancing the audience's immersion in the world they put forward.
Formed in the Córdoba province during the pandemic, CLAUSTRO is the collaborative project of multidisciplinary artists Ignacio Bruno and Sofía Garazurreta, a multimedia production duo dedicated to developing installations, immersive environments and live performances.
